Definition of Break/Fix in Under 100 Words

Break/Fix also known as break fix, is a type of revenue model for services provided by IT managed service companies or Managed Service Providers (MSPs). Typically, MSPs provide services for a monthly fee, since they provide 24/7 monitoring of equipment networks, etc. so that they can fix issues as they arise.

In a break/fix fee based service, the customer contacts the MSP when an issue arises and the customer only pays for the work performed. These services include and are not limited to repairs, software and hardware upgrades, networking, systems installations and more.
